Additional Information

FAQs

For us at Cal Protocols is very important to give you peace of mind. This is whay we want to make sure you have all the information you need.

Is the treatment safe?

Yes, safety is a top priority. All therapies follow strict donor screening and medical oversight. Your child is monitored throughout the two-week stay, and we review all potential risks with you before treatment so you can give fully informed consent.

Is the treatment approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)?

Not all parts of the protocol are FDA-approved for treating autism. Some therapies are considered investigational or used off-label in this context. We explain which elements fall under standard care and which require special consent so you understand each step before moving forward.

Does insurance cover the treatment?

Some insurance plans may reimburse parts of the initial testing done before your arrival. The two-week protocol in Panama is not covered because several components are considered investigational or fall outside standard insurance coverage for autism.

How do we continue the treatment when we return home?

Your on-site stay is only the first phase. You’ll leave Panama with a personalized after-care plan that includes diet, gut health support, lifestyle strategies, and recommendations for follow-up labs. The protocol includes an online nutrition appointment one month after your visit, a three-month medical follow up with our specialists, and a six-month check-in with our health coach. We stay connected with families throughout the process and you can reach out any time you need guidance.

What are payment options and approximate costs?

The cost of the protocol starts at about 25,000 dollars. The exact amount depends on the therapies recommended for your child. Payment is split into two parts. The first payment is due when you confirm participation. The second payment is made when you arrive in Panama. The fee covers the protocol only. It doesn’t include travel, accommodation, or the pre-arrival testing required before your visit.

How do we get started?

Start by completing our online inquiry form. We’ll then schedule a consultation with our team to review your child’s history and confirm candidacy. If it’s a good fit, we’ll guide you through the required pre-arrival testing and help you plan the timing of your visit to Panama.

What outcomes can we realistically expect?

Each child responds in their own way. Ffamilies report changes in digestion, sleep, behavior, communication, or overall regulation after the protocol. This is not a cure, and results vary. You can read real experiences in our testimonial section to understand the types of changes parents have seen.

What is included in the 2-week stay in Panama?

2 week protocol includes daily clinical appointments (Monday–Friday), some of the diagnostic labs, integrative therapies, gut-health interventions, family coaching, weekend rest time, and structured follow-up planning.

How do we handle travel logistics and passport/visas?

You’re responsible for your family’s passports, visas, flights, and accommodation. Our team doesn’t manage travel arrangements, although we can share helpful tips and local suggestions once your dates are confirmed.

What if our child is already receiving therapies (speech, OT, behavioural)? Will this interfere?

Not typically. Our program is designed to complement existing therapies, not replace them. We coordinate with your child’s current care team, ensure safe overlaps with medication or therapies, and plan timing so the transition is smooth.
